SPECIAL CHARM...

As with everything in life it requires balance. The same goes for wearing vintage. The myths surrounding vintage clothing is getting old and tired. Vintage clothing is "cheap" not so much there are really great high quality vintage pieces out there. Cheap is all in the attitude if you feel like your outfit is "cheap' then it will certainly come across a such depending on your attitude and confidence, remember you make the outfit, not allowing the outfit to make you. Vintage is "old" ummm  yes, if it says 70s vintage and were in 2015  yes  that item may have miles on it. However, it should not take away from the wear ability  of embracing vintage.

Vintage is "dirty" or  "used" this one is hilarious. Thrifting  is also used and found a home before finding yours. Vintage is also used , but I always recommend buyers to wash or dry clean items before wearing. And many businesses like my own go the extra mile in assuring that all items have been washed or dry cleaned before it actually reaches its customers. Now, this may be a shocker but when we enter any clothing store many items have been previously tried on. Therefore , it was on a another body before ours at some point.

Now that I hope I've made you comfortable and ready to embrace some fabulous vintage. Let's explore the ways in which vintage can be worn. We mustn't forget to keep vintage charming and classy. This is why vintage holds such a special place in m heart, because in my opinion  it is classy. However if you go over board it can then become less desirable.

When wearing vintage it is not necessary to go over broad. I some cases its okay and yes you can get away with it. But in other cases it's best to break it up. For instance , you can wear vintage piece while still looking chic and modern. you can pair a vintage blazer, with modern pants and accessorize with modern pieces. Gather your vintage pieces and break them up, throw in modern pieces to give your outfit balance.

You can also make a vintage item your focal point. Let's say you are wearing a vintage caftan or bohemian dress , the caftan is your focal point. You can now add modern accessories and or shoes and handbag.  You want to highlight your focal item to be the main and introductory focus of your outfit.

Think outside the box, you can pair your vintage with scarves, hats, trinkets, Jewelry, and oh yes! Sunglasses.

However, If you're anything like me I like to break fashion rules. I sincerely believe in owning your style with freedom in mind and body. On any day you may find me with head to toe vintage, also on any given day you may find me with a mix of vintage and modern. My point is to have fun! Be a trend setter. If done right , you could be creating something fabulous. And remember to chart your own course, while doing so.

Enjoy!
